It all started in January 2025 when we noticed a need in our community. Many families were caring for loved ones who suffered from a form of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. This caring was holy and sacred work, but it could also be hard, overwhelming, and lonely.
We reached out for training by The Alzheimer’s Association and became the first Caregiver’s Support Group in Cherokee Country.
Our support group meets on the second Saturday and the fourth Thursday of each month, at 1 PM in our Fellowship Hall.
Our trained facilitators seek to provide a safe place for people living with an illness and their care partners to:
- Develop a support system
- Exchange practical information on challenges and possible solutions
- Talk through issues and ways of coping
- Share feelings, needs, and concerns
- Learn about community resources
On occasion, we also provide educational forums by professionals. Reach out to our office to learn more about our support group and other offerings.
